It’s World Fair Trade Day 2022! The very important theme this year is climate justice.

Tackling the climate crisis is not just an ecological necessity, but also a social justice issue for the worst affected who are facing extreme weather conditions. We need climate justice! Climate justice aims to deliver fair, inclusive and sustainable solutions to those on the front line of the climate crisis. 

World Fair Trade Day was started by the World Fair Trade Organisation in 2001. It’s an annual event celebrating Fair Trade and raising awareness this year of the climate emergency. Read the WFTO’s 10 principles of Fair Trade

Get involved this year by supporting Fairtrade and sharing a message of support. Write “#LetsDoItFair” on one palm and “Climate Justice Now” on the other. Snap a pic and tag Fair Trade Wales and the World Fair Trade Organisation in your post. 


Here are some Fair Trade items to inspire your actions this World Fair Trade Day:

1. Solid Shampoo Bar – Lavender and Rosemary

2. Handthrown Mugs

Fair Trade handmade mugs in unique designs to sip your Fairtrade coffee from. They’re also dishwasher friendly! Made on the East coast of India by a group of 60 artisans. 100% of the process is made by hand from softening the raw clay to glazing the final product. Through support from the WFTO, employees benefit from medical and insurance facilities. A school has also been started in the village for 350 pupils under the age of 11, primarily for the children of artisans, but also for children who live in the surrounding rural area.

A great sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to one-use makeup removal pads. The unique designs are enough to make you want a pack. Handmade by Fair Trade producers in India, they’re a great replacement for wet wipes which cause issues in wastewater systems and often end up in the ocean.
